Dr Nigel Cogger

Nigel Cogger has a first degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a PhD for research into the prediction of turbine blade vibration. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institute of Acoustics and is included in the Register of Expert Witnesses. Nigel takes an active role in the Institute of Acoustics, by taking part in and contributing papers to conferences and workshops, and as a member of the committee of the Environmental Noise Group and Secretary of the Southern Branch.

Nigel has over 25 years experience in acoustics and vibration, including environmental noise and architectural and building acoustics. In 1979-80 he researched and developed the CONCAWE method for prediction of the propagation of noise over long distances, a method now widely adopted for environmental noise assessments.

Prior to forming The English Cogger Partnership in April 2000, Nigel was a Consultant with Arup Acoustics for 10 years, where he managed a wide variety of projects in environmental noise, building and architectural acoustics and vibration. Major projects undertaken included the noise control and building acoustics at the Glaxo Wellcome Research Campus, Stevenage; assessments of the proposed M25 widening and M4 Relief Road, Newport; acoustics and noise control in courts at Stratford (London) and Bournemouth, the Verbundnetz Gas headquarters in Leipzig and schools in London and Jersey.
